Vanguard Weiss Memorial Hospital has been affiliated with
The University of Chicago Medicine since 1987. At that time, an affiliation was executed with the belief that the integration of the hospitals would produce a highly productive medical establishment for the betterment of health and medical education in Chicago and its surroundings. This merger combined the personal care of a smaller community hospital with the advancements of a major academic medical center, incorporating technology, medical education programs and research, resulting in the highest quality medical treatment available. This affiliation was expanded in 1992 to include the University of Chicago Division of Biological Sciences.
Since these affiliation agreements were signed in 1987 and 1992, UCM and Weiss Memorial Hospital have collaborated to develop a variety of medical programs and strategic initiatives. Today, we still maintain our affiliation with The University of Chicago Medicine through a joint venture formed by Vanguard Health Systems and UCM, ensuring that many of UCM's clinical and educational programs are available through Weiss.
