Weiss feels a responsibility to be actively involved with the communities that we serve. To fulfill this responsibility Weiss participates as board and/or committee members in various Uptown and Edgewater organizations, listed below.
Apna Ghar Apna Ghar is a domestic violence shelter serving primarily Asian women and children, and was the first Asian shelter of its kind in the Mid-Western United States.
Asian Health Coalition of Illinois The Asian Health Coalition of Illinois which was incorporated in 1998 is a non-profit, community-based organization whose mission is to improve the health and well-being of Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders in Illinois through advocacy, technical assistance, public education, and community-based research.
Asian Human Services Asian Human Services (AHS) exists to provide quality and compassionate services to the Asian American community of metropolitan Chicago.
Chicago Department of Public Health Facility Board -- Uptown Neighborhood Health Center This clinic provides a range of health care services, including medical, dental, laboratory, pharmacy, and x-ray. Variety of special services and programs available as well.
Chicago Health Outreach Chicago Health Outreach (CHO) provides primary, mental and oral health care and interpretation and translation services at its main clinic in Uptown, at satellite sites in homeless shelters, and through street outreach. CHO works with community health centers on the south, north and west sides of Chicago to provide neighborhood health care and HIV services.
Edgewater Chamber of Commerce Offers a 76-page Business and Community Guide for residents and consumers; offers the City of Chicago Facade Rebate Program to commercial property owners and works with them to create a pleasant shopping environment; offers a Street Improvements Program that includes landscaping, street cleaning, and infrastructure repairs.

Northeast District Health Council The Northeast District Health Council (NE DHC) is one of six councils created by the Chicago/Cook County Community Health Council, a city and county collaboration which provides input into decisions that affect the organization, delivery and financing of ambulatory care services especially to those residents who are under-served. The district health councils were developed to address these issues at a more local level. The councils are composed of community representatives, providers, and elected government officials to ensure a multidisciplinary approach to local health planning and program implementation. The NE DHC council serves the residents of Albany Park, Edgewater, Lincoln Square, Rogers Park, and Uptown.

Uptown Chamber of Commerce The Uptown Chamber is a non-profit association of businesses, merchants, and service agencies working to promote Uptown as a good place to live, work, shop, and do business.
