The leading cause of treatable blindness is cataract, which causes cloudy vision. Cataract can be the result of long-term ultraviolet (UV) light exposure, eye trauma, diabetes and, most commonly, age. Cataracts require surgical removal and replacement of the eye’s lens.
The figure to the right shows a cataract film over the eye.
The INFINITI Vision System allows physicians to customize each patient’s cataract surgery, providing surgeons with increased efficiency and surgical control. The result is better surgical outcomes and improved safety. Eye surgeons at Vanguard Weiss Memorial Hospital perform more than 1,000 cataract surgeries a year using this system.
