ICU

Emergency DepartmentWeiss Memorial Hospital’s Intensive Care Unit (ICU) offers a full range of emergency medical services to patients requiring specialized care for critical health conditions.

A special elevator connects the hospital’s Emergency Department to a 16-bed ICU that features advanced equipment and resources for critically ill patients. Power columns within the ICU hold all of the equipment needed to monitor the patient efficiently and effectively. Additionally, specialized beds aid in the comfort level of patients.

The ICU provides quality care for even the most complex medical challenges. The unit is multi-disciplinary in that we serve medical, surgical and cardiology patients. After open-heart surgery, the patient recovers in the ICU and eventually transfers to our new progressive care unit on the sixth floor. Additionally, we are implementing many new interventions to provide better patient care and to prevent infections related to the ventilator, intravenous central lines and pressure ulcers.

Experienced attending physicians treat patients and educate residents using a team approach. Our dedicated nursing staff is BLS- (Basic Life Support) and ACLS- (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) trained, and several nurses hold critical care certifications.

No matter what the condition, compassionate and caring staff provides exceptional, quality care to our patients.
