Dr. Purnendu Gupta, medical director of the Chicago Spine Center, a program of Chicago Center for Orthopedics at Weiss and associate professor of surgery in orthopedics and rehabilitation medicine at University of Chicago, performed a 13-hour operation that corrected a patient's bent spine and allowed her to stand upright for the first time since she was a teenager.
