CHICAGO (March 31, 2010)—Weiss Memorial Hospital recently was recognized with an Excellence through Insight award for “Overall Physician Satisfaction” (large hospital category) by HealthStream Research, the research business group of HealthStream, Inc. (NASDAQ: HSTM). A formal presentation of the award will be made during Healthstream’s customer Summit 2010, May 17-20, 2010 in Nashville, Tenn.
“Weiss is dedicated to creating a hospital environment that meets the clinical and professional needs of its physicians,” said Frank Molinaro, chief executive officer for Weiss. “We are thrilled Weiss doctors are thriving in our hospital setting, as evidenced by this prestigious award.”
Weiss was awarded this honor for its commitment to excellence in medical staff satisfaction. To qualify for an award, a hospital must have been a medical staff satisfaction client of HealthStream Research in 2009, scored at least in the 75th percentile or higher, and conducted a minimum of 50 physician surveys. Weiss was chosen for receiving the highest ratings in medical staff satisfaction from among HealthStream Research’s clients, as well as exceeding industry standards. The hospital ranked in the 97th percentile, with 71 percent of physicians being very satisfied with Weiss, compared with the national average of just 28 percent.
“Weiss has worked hard in recent years to connect with physicians,” said Martin Siglin, M.D., vice president of medical affairs at Weiss. “We have found success in open communication, and an emphasis on education and collaborative decision-making.”
HealthStream Research applauds Weiss’ high-level commitment to excellence in health care. “We are pleased to recognize its achievement through our presentation of an Excellence through Insight award,” said J. Edward Pearson, president of HealthStream Research.
