Looking for fresh, locally grown fruits, vegetables, flowers and herbs? Then head to Weiss Memorial Hospital’s Uptown Farmers Market! Here you’ll also find organic and healthy breads, jams, honey and teas. Or you can grow your own on the Weiss Rooftop Farm. The Rooftop Farm has over 50 raised beds for community use. Come and learn, tend and grow your own vegetables and fruits. Contact Terry Tuohy for more information.
When is it held?
The Farmers Market is open every Thursday from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m., from June through October.
Where is it?
The Farmers Market is located in the southwest corner of Weiss’ parking lot near the corner of Wilson and Clarendon avenues.
What can I expect?
Along with the fresh produce and crafted goods, you’ll also find:
• Information on living a healthy life through exercise, smoking cessation and eating right.
• Diabetes and high blood pressure screenings.
• Informational talks from dietitians on healthy recipes.
A successful Farmers Market is the result of healthy partnerships with local schools, neighboring block clubs, support from Uptown United, a close working arrangement with the Alderman’s Office and support from people like you in our community.
