Patricia Boatwright, M.D.

Gynecologist

Patricia Boatwright, M.D., has more than 40 years’ experience in obstetrics and gynecology, and places a focus on strong communication and trust with her patients. Dr. Boatwright’s gynecological expertise includes common conditions, as well as complex diagnoses. She is committed to educating patients on prevention, ensuring patients have an understanding of each diagnosis, and talking through treatment options with them. Dr. Boatwright uses a personalized approach in treating each patient, and feels that listening intently to the patient and providing a thorough examination are critical to high quality care.

Dr. Boatwright completed her undergraduate work in psychobiology at the University of California at Los Angeles (UCLA), as well as one year of graduate education in cell biology at UCLA. She earned her medical degree and residency at the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor. Before entering her private practice, Dr. Boatwright was an assistant professor at Rush University Medical Center for three years, and continued teaching as an assistant professor after entering private practice. Dr. Boatwright continues her commitment to training new generations of doctors, and is currently an educator for the residency programs at both Advocate Christ Medical Center and Mercy Medical Center. She earned multiple clinical teaching awards over the course of her career, particularly from Rush University Medical Center. She has been board certified and a fellow of the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists for more than 30 years.

Bernardo Duarte, MD

Bernardo Duarte, MD
General Surgeon

Bernardo Duarte, M.D., has devoted his career to advancing general surgery techniques and laparoscopic procedures. He is a skilled general surgeon and specializes in laparoscopic procedures for hernia repair, cholecystectomy, appendectomy and Nissen fundoplication. Since 1981, he has served as Associate Professor and Lecturer at the University of Illinois at Chicago in the Department of Surgery, as well as visiting professor in surgical oncology. He also worked as Professor of Surgery at the University of Chicago from 1994 to 1998. He has treated patients as an attending surgeon at many hospitals in the Chicago area, including Elmhurst Memorial Hospital, St. Elizabeth’s Hospital and Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center. He previously worked at Weiss from 1994 to 2004 as a faculty member of the University of Chicago and attending surgeon.

A native of Colombia, Dr. Duarte earned his bachelor’s degree at Jose Max Leon College, then went on to complete his pre-medical education at Los Andes University and his medical degree at National University of Colombia. He finished internships at San Juan de Dios Hospital in Bogota and at West Suburban Hospital in Oak Park, Ill., and came to Cook County Hospital (now Stroger Hospital) for his residency in general surgery, followed by a Fellowship in Surgical Endocrinology at Penn State University, becoming then an Assistant Professor of Surgery at the University of Illinois-Chicago Department of Surgery.

Dr. Furlong completed her medical degree, internship, and residency at the University of Illinois College of Medicine, followed by a fellowship at Illinois Urogynecology, Ltd. Today, she is one of only a handful of surgeons to have achieved board certification in both obstetrics-gynecology and female pelvic medicine and reconstructive surgery.
