Ömer Acar, M.D., born in Ankara, Turkey, earned his medical degree from Marmara University School of Medicine, Istanbul, and completed his residency at Istanbul University Faculty of Medicine, Department of Urology.  Dr. Acar then served as a consultant staff physician in the kidney transplantation unit of the Turkish Kidney Foundation Hospital, Istanbul, and completed a short-term visiting fellowship program in the Division of Pediatric Urology, Albany Medical Center, NY.

Dr. Acar then served as a staff physician for the Turkish Armed Forces, and upon completing his service with the Turkish Ministry of Health, worked in the Urology Department of Vehbi Koç Foundation American Hospital, Istanbul, also as a staff physician. Dr. Acar continued his medical career as a Urology Specialist in the Urology Department of Koç University Hospital, Istanbul, where he was awarded the degree of Associate Professor of Urology and a faculty member of the School of Medicine, Koc University, Istanbul. He is currently working as a Genital Reconstruction Fellow in the Urology Department of the University of Illinois at Chicago and Weiss Memorial Hospital, Chicago.
