Hospital Care

After surgery, most patients recover on a dedicated post-surgical unit. Privacy and comfort are enhanced with large, private rooms providing beautiful views of Lake Michigan. Clinical nursing staff is specially trained to care for patients recovering from gender confirmation surgery.

Insurance Coverage and Financing

An increasing number of insurance plans are offering coverage for gender confirmation surgery. Our program navigator can assist patients in determining insurance coverage by submitting the appropriate paperwork for insurance precertification. Even with insurance coverage, patients may still be responsible for fees such as deductibles, co-insurance, and portions of the surgical procedure not covered by insurance.

Requirements for Surgery

Requirement for surgery depend on the procedure requested. Our program navigator will provide information on requirements for specific surgeries.

Prior to surgery, each patient’s medical history will be reviewed by the surgeon and clinically-indicated lab work will be coordinated. At the time of evaluation, the patient will be interviewed, undergo a history and physical examination, sign consent forms, have photographs taken, and receive instructions.
