Rachael Johnson, MPAS, PA-C, is a Physician Assistant working with the Center for Gender Confirmation Surgery at Weiss Memorial Hospital. On the morning of surgery, Rachael greets her patients, reviews their consents and medications, and assists with their surgeries. In addition to being an integral part of the operative team, she serves as a primary provider of care for patients while they recover from their surgery at Weiss.“I love being in the operating room. Every surgery is different and provides an opportunity to learn and improve my skill set. But I also enjoy working on the hospital floor with my patients and seeing the day to day progress they make during recovery,” explains Rachael.
Rachael states the most rewarding part of her job is hearing each patient’s story and being by their side as they take steps toward physically realizing who they mentally know themselves to be. “My goal is to be an excellent provider; skilled, honest and trusted by my patients. It truly is an honor being a part of such a crucial moment in a person’s life,” affirms Rachael.
