On Saturday, Aug. 27, more than 50 Weiss employees, family and friends attended a night of professional baseball under the lights of Ozinga Field in Crestwood, IL.
Weiss colleagues enjoyed good food, fun and fellowship at the Windy City ThunderBolts baseball game.
In addition to complimentary tickets and parking, “Weiss Night” attendees watched the game from a private section for Weiss staff only, with free food and drink throughout the evening.
Weiss CEO Irene Dumanis was honored to throw the ceremonial first pitch and equally excited for the opportunity to spend time with staff, family and friends.
“Tonight was all about our staff getting out and having fun. I am grateful for Weiss colleagues across all areas and departments who work hard every day to provide safe, quality care for our community,” said Dumanis.

Another evening highlight included a head-to-head competition between Alan Given, director of the Orthopedic Clinic at Weiss, and ThunderBolts’ pitcher Bryan Ketchie, as they participated in a “closest to the pin” golfing competition. Team Weiss was there to congratulate Given for a job well done.
“We are thrilled to be the official sports medicine provider for the Windy City ThunderBolts. Our orthopedic specialists work hard to keep the professional baseball team’s players healthy all season long,” said Jerry Henley, LAT, ATC, director of Sports Medicine & Orthopedic Development at Weiss.
Orthopedic Surgeon and Sports Medicine specialist Preston Wolin, M.D., serves as the team physician for the ThunderBolts, with Sports Medicine physicians Jeannette Kelly, D.O. and Julie Kafka, D.O. rounding out the clinical team.

The night came to an exciting conclusion with a 5 – 0 win by the ThunderBolts over the Joliet Slammers and the impressive “Super MEGA fireworks” display.
