Shirley Roy, M.D., is the medical director of the Wound Healing Center at Weiss. She has presented on multiple subjects in adult medicine, palliative care and wound care to medical residents and colleagues. Dr. Roy has taught adult medicine at Cook County Hospital for 20 years and has served as medical director of Home Health and Hospice for 10 years. Dr. Roy is board-certified in Geriatric Medicine and Internal Medicine and has received additional training on Advanced Wound Management and Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy at Ohio State University to meet patients’ wound care needs.

PULMONARY AND SLEEP MEDICINE PHYSICIAN, WEISS MEMORIAL HOSPITAL

Venkata Buddharaju, M.D. is fellowship-trained and board-certified in Pulmonary, Critical Care and Sleep Medicine. He has been providing consultation services and teaching medical students and residents at Weiss Memorial Hospital for more than 20 years.

Throughout his career, Dr. Buddharaju has conducted clinical research and been published in several medical journals. He also has worked to develop and implement quality patient care policies.

Dr. Buddharaju provides the following services at Weiss Memorial Hospital:

  • Pulmonary consultations for diagnosis and management of pulmonary diseases, including COPD, lung cancer, pneumonia, pleural effusions, and lung nodules, among other disorders.
  • Critical care consultations for acute and chronic respiratory failure and other ICU conditions.
  • Sleep medicine consultations for conditions such as insomnia and sleep apnea.
