Comprehensive Breast Care Support
Weiss Memorial Hospital provides comprehensive services to diagnose and treat your breast health concerns.
Imaging & Radiology
Our board-certified radiologists work closely with referring primary physicians, surgeons, and oncologists, providing comprehensive imaging services to detect and diagnose cancer. They also perform percutaneous breast biopsies during imaging. Learn more about Imaging & Radiology.
This imaging test uses a low dose of X-rays to screen breast tissue. It’s used for breast disease screening and early breast cancer diagnosis. A mammogram may be done if you have breast problems such as a lump, pain, or nipple discharge. It can check for breast cancers, noncancerous or benign tumors, and cysts before they can be felt.
This exam uses sound waves to create images based on the patterns returned to a hand-held device used by the radiologist. Breast ultrasound is used to evaluate breast changes, such as lumps or dense breast tissue. It is useful because it can often differentiate between cysts (fluid-filled sacs) and solid masses needing further evaluation.

At Weiss Memorial Hospital’s Center for Radiation Oncology, we provide radiation therapy treatment using state-of-the-art medical technology in a warm and caring environment. Our experienced staff of nurses and doctors is here to listen to your concerns and work hard to meet your needs. Our radiation oncology team uses intensity-modulated radiation therapy (IMRT) technology to precisely target cancerous tumors, offering maximum protection of surrounding healthy tissues. Such treatment provides the highest probability of cure and the lowest complication rate.
Reconstructive breast surgery may be done to reconstruct either one breast (unilateral) or both breasts (bilateral). The goal of the surgery is to create a breast mound that matches the opposite breast. If both breasts have been removed, the goal of the surgery is to create both breast mounds about the size of the woman’s natural breasts.
Our board-certified reconstructive breast surgeons work closely with general surgeons and oncologists to tailor breast reconstruction to meet individual needs.
Genetic counseling/testing is performed if the medical oncologist or surgeon feels it is appropriate after conferring with the patient. Genetic counseling may be appropriate for patients with a family history of multiple cases of the same types of cancer, cancers occurring at an earlier age of onset than usual, bilateral cancers, such as those affecting both breasts, or for individuals with an Ashkenazi (Eastern European) Jewish background.
