Athletes Make Fast-Track Out of the Emergency Department

Emergency Direct Assistance

As a top resource to athletes of all levels in our community – from professional and Olympic athletes to weekend warriors and active seniors – Weiss has a “fast-track” athletic injuries program in the emergency department.

Now recreational athletes that end up in the Weiss ED will receive the same concierge-level service that our team partners enjoy. Our streamlined process will help our local athletes have support and guidance for their plan of care.

How the new fast-track program works:

  • When a patient presents to the Emergency Room with a sports-related injury, Dr. Nicholas Graff, Medical Director for the Weiss ED, will contact the orthopedic surgeon on call to discuss the case.
  • For emergency cases, the on-call physician will come and treat the patient immediately.
  • For injuries that require follow-up, the ED will contact Jerry Henley, LAT, ATC, Director of Sports Medicine. He will work directly with the patient to schedule a convenient appointment within 24-48 hours with an on-call physician.
  • With this concierge-level service, patients will be able to see one of our experienced and renowned sports medicine specialists within 24-48 hours and have all their imaging completed during this timeframe as well.
