Weiss Memorial Hospital was proud to be among the 184 companies and 1,147 teams supporting this year’s walk that kicked off from Soldier Field in Chicago.

Wearing red t-shirts displaying the phrase “Healing Hearts One Step at a Time,” Team Weiss set out to make a difference with a team of employees, volunteers and patients committed to raising funds to combat heart disease and stroke.

Thanks to generous support from the Weiss community, their mission was accomplished. Team Weiss raised $850 to support the life-saving work of the American Heart Association.

“The team was excited to support this year’s heart walk. The mission of the American Heart Association aligns with the goals of Cardiac Rehab at Weiss when it comes to teaching a healthy and active lifestyle to heart patients,” said Weiss Clinical Exercise Physiologist Mitchell Tuthill, MS, who helped coordinate the event.

Cardiac Rehab at Weiss assists patients in their recovery from cardiac events. Specialized clinical staff work one-on-one with patients, monitoring their blood pressure, heart rate, and overall health as they exercise. The team is there to intervene if cardiac symptoms present a risk.
