Kudos to Brandon Hauer, RN, for receiving the 40 Under 40 Emerging Nurse Leader Award from the Illinois Nurses Foundation. Hauer was one 120 nursing professionals nominated for the 2022 award by nursing peers.

Nurse with award

Established in 2014, the distinguished award highlights and celebrates young nurse leaders who are impacting health care and shaping the future of the nursing profession.

“The award is well deserved,” commented Clinical Nurse Specialist Gerri Kaye, MS, APN-CNS, CCRN, who leads critical care and nursing education at Weiss. “Since joining Weiss in April as Clinical Nurse Educator for the ICU and ED, Brandon has made an impact on nursing with the development of both a Preceptor Course for nurses and the Nursing Skills Fair. He also has led the Steripath project that focuses on reducing the blood culture contamination rate.”

Hauer has been a nurse for more than 10 years. Prior to joining Weiss, he served as a hospital ICU nurse in Peoria and Chicago, and as a clinical educator at Oak Point University in Chicago.

“I am very honored to have received this nursing leadership award and humbled to be among this amazing group of individuals. I am in awe of these nursing professionals and their empowering stories,” said Hauer.
